TK Maxx will open its third store in Adelaide next month as part of a $10m expansion of the Churchill Centre shopping complex at Kilburn.

The US discount fashion and homewares retailer will occupy close to half of a 3500sq m extension currently under construction at the southern end of the shopping centre.

Up to 10 specialty stores, a new outdoor plaza, cafes, a play area and additional car parking will also be offered once the expansion is completed. It will create up to 80 ongoing jobs.

TK Maxx offers brand name clothing at discounted prices, as well as a range of toys, homewares and beauty products.

Its first Adelaide store opened at Pasadena in 2020, followed by a second store at Harbour Town last year.

TK Maxx Australia spokesman Tony Dunseath said the new store opening was part of a national expansion of the chain.

“We’re incredibly excited to be opening TK Maxx, the home of big brands at small prices, at Churchill Centre, so more shoppers in South Australia can enjoy our unique shopping experience,” he said.

“Every TK Maxx store offers a different assortment of brands and products and our selection changes constantly, so there will always be something fresh and exciting to discover.”

Leedwell Property agent Karolina Perre, who brokered the five-year lease, said the new TK Maxx outlet would be a “stand out” store.

“TK Maxx are known for bringing a unique retail offering and experience to the customer, which will sit hand in hand with Churchill Centre’s international list of destination brands such as Costco and Aldi,” she said.

Churchill Centre ownership is shared between fund manager ICAM and a local syndicate led by Southern Cross Equity Group.

ICAM managing director Freddy Bartlett said the owners continued to explore the centre’s “expansion potential”.

TK Maxx launched in Australia in 2017. The Churchill Centre store will become its 75th outlet in the country.

Doors at Churchill Centre will open on March 23.
